The Menomonie Optimist Club named Marek Neuville of Colfax High School as the May 2024 Youth of the Month. He is the son of Brad and Autum Neuville of Colfax.

Marek has been active in band, where he plays trombone. He’s also participated in jazz band, the drama club, forensics, and was a founding member of the school’s Dungeons and Dragons Club. Marek is a member of the National Honor Society and has taken a number of college-level courses during his high school years. His commitment to community service shows in his volunteering at local performances and serving food at a local soup kitchen. He plans to attend the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities to study history.

Optimists have been recognizing outstanding seniors from Dunn County’s four high schools for over 30 years. Menomonie Optimists also coordinate the Dictionary Project, which gives a dictionary to every third grade student in Dunn County; have conducted work projects in conjunction with area schools at Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area; and host the Menomin Meander, a free family-friendly bike ride around Lake Menomin each August.
